Accountant/Finance Manager

A well-established law firm based in Wallsend is seeking an experienced and proactive Accountant/Finance Manager to lead its finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable and respected business that has been successfully operating for over a century and currently employs more than 25 staff.
  

About the Role

In this hands-on role, you’ll report directly to the Directors  and play a key role in both day-to-day financial operations and strategic financial planning. You’ll also manage and mentor one direct report, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver strategic financial and management reports
• Oversee all financial and accounts operations
• Work-in-Progress (WIP) management
• Implement and monitor cost-saving measures
• Prepare and manage cashflow reporting
• Oversee payroll processing and compliance
• Provide input on business improvement opportunities

  
About You

You’re a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys balancing operational responsibilities with strategic input. You’ll thrive in a close-knit team environment and bring a proactive mindset to your work.
  

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience with trust accounting (preferred but not essential)
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA or CPA qualifications desirable, but not required)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and keen attention to detail
• Familiarity with MYOB or similar accounting software (desirable)
