Move Your Career Forward in Newcastle
Thinking about a sea change without sacrificing the quality of your work?
An established and highly regarded Newcastle law firm is looking for a Corporate & Commercial Lawyer to join its growing team. Whether you're already based in Newcastle, looking to relocate from Sydney or another major city, or seeking a better lifestyle without compromising on sophisticated and varied work, this opportunity offers the best of both worlds.
Working alongside experienced commercial lawyers, you'll advise a diverse client base spanning resources, construction, professional services and privately owned businesses. The work is varied, engaging and genuinely commercial, with exposure to everything from day-to-day advisory matters through to complex corporate transactions.
The Opportunity
You'll work across a broad range of matters including:
- Commercial contracting and contract negotiation
- Corporate transactions
- General commercial advisory work
- Business structuring and shareholder arrangements
- Corporate governance matters
- Mergers & acquisitions
- Restructuring projects
Experience in commercial litigation, property law or commercial leasing will be viewed favourably but is not essential.
About You
We're keen to speak with lawyers who:
- Have experience in corporate and commercial law
- Enjoy building strong client relationships
- Have excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Demonstrate sound commercial judgement
- Are capable of managing matters with increasing autonomy
- Thrive in a collaborative, team-focused environment
- Deliver practical, solutions-focused advice
This role would particularly suit a lawyer seeking quality work, stronger mentorship and a clear pathway to progression without the long hours often associated with larger firms.
What's on Offer?
- High-quality corporate and commercial work
- Achievable 5.5 hour daily billable target
- Exposure to M&A and complex transactions
- Strong mentorship from experienced practitioners
- Exposure to domestic and international matters
- Genuine career progression opportunities
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- Real work-life balance
- Community involvement on work time
- An ocean-side office and car spot to really make office life easy!
- Wellbeing-focused culture
- Competitive salary package
If you're ready to join a firm where culture matters, quality work is valued and your long-term development is genuinely supported, we'd love to hear from you.
