An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant to join a highly regarded property development company based in Newcastle – residential & commercial projects.


Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll lead the financial accounting function, manage a small team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, compliance, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.


This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys improving processes, developing people and partnering with stakeholders across the business.


About the Role


As Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting process
  • Managing the Financial Accountant team and supporting their development
  • Preparing management reports, statutory financial statements and board reporting
  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting obligations
  • Managing BAS, Payroll Tax, ATO and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and general ledger integrity
  • Managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisers
  • Driving continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and internal processes
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to deliver timely financial insights and support decision-making.

About You


To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • CA or CPA qualification – currently a must have
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant role
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced commercial environment.
