An exciting opportunity has become available for a Financial Accountant to join a well established and highly regarded property developer based in Newcastle.
  
Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, tax, audit, business services, statutory compliance and continuous process improvement across a diverse property portfolio.
  
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid level accountant looking to broaden their experience within a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment.
  
The Opportunity
  
Reporting to the Finance Manager/CFO, your responsibilities will include:
  
  • Preparing month-end and year-end financial reporting, including journals, accruals and adjustments
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
  • Managing fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
  • Ensuring accurate recognition of revenue and expenses in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
  • Preparing BAS, FBT and other statutory returns
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting and financial analysis
  • Preparing General Purpose Financial Statements and supporting year-end audit requirements
  • Completing external compliance reporting, including ATO, ABS, NSW Revenue and Workers Compensation declarations
  • Assisting with group consolidation reporting
  • Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions when required
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
  • Acting as a key liaison with external accountants and tax advisers
  
About You
  
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
  
  • The role would ideally suit a candidate with a Public Practice background as you will be heavily involved in Tax, Data, Auditing
  • CA or CPA qualification (or currently working towards)
  • 3 - 4+ years' Financial accounting experience within commercial, property or public practice environments
  • Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting experience
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax compliance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • A proactive approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
