Connected People is proud to be partnering with Prelude Australia to recruit an experienced People & Culture Manager.

Prelude Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that has supported children and families for more than 40 years. Today, its highly qualified team provides best-practice early childhood and therapy supports for children from birth to twelve, including children with developmental delay and disability. Their purpose is simple but powerful: to support a positive future for all children.

The Opportunity
This is a senior, broad generalist P&C role offering approximately a 50/50 balance between strategic and operational work.

Sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, you will take genuine ownership of the people function within an organisation of approximately 37 employees. With no direct reports, this is an opportunity for someone who enjoys having autonomy, influencing at a senior level and still being hands-on when required.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing strategic P&C advice to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Preparing for and leading the upcoming Enterprise Agreement bargaining process.
  • Managing ER/IR matters.
  • Leading workforce planning, organisational change and capability initiatives.
  • Strengthening Prelude Australia's approach to psychosocial risk, wellbeing and workplace compliance.
  • Coaching leaders to build their people management capability.
  • Driving proactive culture, engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Managing HR systems, policies, processes and legislative compliance.
  • Developing strategic recruitment and long-term talent pipelines, including relationships with universities and allied health scholarship recipients.
About You
Prelude Australia is looking for someone who combines warmth, capability and proactivity.

You will be an experienced P&C leader who can confidently navigate complex people matters and advise at Executive level, while remaining approachable and connected to employees.

You will bring:
  • Previous experience as a HR Manager, People & Culture Manager or equivalent Manager-level position.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Previous Enterprise Agreement bargaining experience desirable but not essential.
  • Strong generalist ER/IR capability.
  • Experience within a not-for-profit or closely aligned purpose-driven environment such as disability, community services, health or education.
  • The ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable with hands-on HR delivery.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • A proactive, autonomous approach and the confidence to identify what needs to be done and make it happen.
Experience in psychosocial risk, workforce planning, organisational change and strategic talent pipelines will be highly regarded.

Genuine Flexibility:
This is a rare opportunity to secure a senior P&C position at 22.8 hours per weekwith opportunities to self-manage work hours flexibly across the day/fortnight, plus additional breaks to support work-life balance.

Prelude Australia is open to three full days or shorter hours across four or five days, including school-hours arrangements where workable. Ideally, hours will be spread across the week to provide greater access to P&C support.

The role will have a regular presence across Prelude Australia's Maitland, Kurri Kurri and Singleton locations, combined with some work-from-home flexibility.

What's On Offer?
  • $68.31 per hour + superannuation
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging
  • Professional development allowance
  • An additional two weeks of leave per year
  • Opportunity for an additional one week of unpaid leave in January
  • Genuine flexibility around family and personal commitments
  • Executive Leadership Team position
  • The autonomy to shape and lead the P&C function
  • The opportunity to make a visible impact within a genuinely purpose-led organisation.
