We are currently partnering with a highly regarded planning and disputes practice to recruit two Senior Lawyers to join their team.
This is a standout opportunity to work closely with a well-known Partner who is recognised for advising both private developers and local councils on complex, high-profile matters. The practice offers a consistent pipeline of sophisticated work across planning, environment, and local government law; areas that are often complex, fast-moving, and strategically significant.
The Roles
Senior Associate
• Strong litigation exposure highly regarded
• Opportunity to step into a key mentoring role
• Supervise and develop junior lawyers
Special Counsel
• Solid litigation experience essential
• Work closely with a highly respected Partner on complex disputes
• Play a key role in strategy, client engagement, and matter leadership
The Work
You will be involved in a broad mix of advisory and contentious matters, including:
• Judicial review proceedings
• Merits appeals
• Easement disputes
• Contempt proceedings
• Land & Environment Court litigation
Alongside disputes, you’ll gain exposure to:
• Complex planning frameworks (SEPPs, LEPs, development control plans)
• Environmental assessment and strategic planning advice
• Voluntary planning agreements and development negotiations
• Environmental compliance, risk management, and pollution-related matters
• Contaminated land and environmental management systems
• Local government advisory work, including governance, procurement, and regulatory functions
• Investigations (including ICAC-related matters)
• Compulsory acquisition and valuation issues
What Sets This Role Apart
• Diverse and intellectually engaging work across both advisory and litigation
• Exposure to high-profile clients including major developers and government authorities
• A practice deeply embedded in the regulatory landscape of planning and environment law
• Strong involvement in Land & Environment Court matters
• A Partner known for a practical, commercially grounded approach
• Genuine progression opportunities and the ability to step into leadership
These are excellent opportunities for a Senior Associate ready to step into a mentoring role, and a Special Counsel looking to work closely with a leading practitioner on complex, high-impact matters.
If this work sounds interesting and the opportunity right for your next work chapter please apply. For a confidential discussion, reach out to Elizabeth Petersen directly.
