This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant with a strong audit and compliance background to contribute their expertise in a values-based environment.

About the Role
This position is a 12-month parental leave opportunity starting in January 2026 and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation’s financial integrity, statutory compliance, and audit readiness.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing year-end reporting, government compliance, and external audit processes, while providing financial stewardship across a complex, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation of year-end financial statements and manage the external audit process.
  • Annual Review and update of financial statements for changes in accounting standards and legislative requirements.
  • Annual Review and update of policies impacting the financial statements.
  • Ensure lodgement of all year-end requirements with required governing bodies
  • Ensure adherence to government and education sector compliance frameworks, policies, and reporting standards.
  • Manage and prepare grant acquittals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee FBT preparation, lodgement, and advisory functions.
  • Support statutory and internal compliance activities, with a focus on transparency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to uphold compliance standards and implement financial governance improvements.
About You
You’ll bring a meticulous, compliance-focused mindset and a proven track record in audit or financial accounting in a highly regulated environment. You’re confident interpreting and applying regulations, with the ability to navigate complex reporting environments.
  
Key Requirements:
  • Strong audit background or financial accounting in a highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, audit, or financial reporting roles.
  • Deep understanding of government and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to prepare grant acquittals and manage year-end financial statements.
  • FBT knowledge—preparation and lodgement experience essential.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Exposure to the education sector or other highly regulated industries (health, aged care, NFP) highly regarded.
  • CA/CPA qualification mandatory.
  • NFP experience an advantage, though not essential.
