This position is a 12-month parental leave opportunity starting in January 2026 and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation’s financial integrity, statutory compliance, and audit readiness.
You’ll be responsible for overseeing year-end reporting, government compliance, and external audit processes, while providing financial stewardship across a complex, highly regulated environment.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing year-end reporting, government compliance, and external audit processes, while providing financial stewardship across a complex, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of year-end financial statements and manage the external audit process.
- Annual Review and update of financial statements for changes in accounting standards and legislative requirements.
- Annual Review and update of policies impacting the financial statements.
- Ensure lodgement of all year-end requirements with required governing bodies
- Ensure adherence to government and education sector compliance frameworks, policies, and reporting standards.
- Manage and prepare grant acquittals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee FBT preparation, lodgement, and advisory functions.
- Support statutory and internal compliance activities, with a focus on transparency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to uphold compliance standards and implement financial governance improvements.
You’ll bring a meticulous, compliance-focused mindset and a proven track record in audit or financial accounting in a highly regulated environment. You’re confident interpreting and applying regulations, with the ability to navigate complex reporting environments.
Key Requirements:
- Strong audit background or financial accounting in a highly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience in compliance, audit, or financial reporting roles.
- Deep understanding of government and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to prepare grant acquittals and manage year-end financial statements.
- FBT knowledge—preparation and lodgement experience essential.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Exposure to the education sector or other highly regulated industries (health, aged care, NFP) highly regarded.
- CA/CPA qualification mandatory.
- NFP experience an advantage, though not essential.
